Hunger is a pressing problem in our country and in our local community, but a big part of the problem is that the general public is not aware of the how difficult it is for struggling families and individuals to get enough to eat.
SNAP provides food assistance to needy individuals, but the program is under fire from politicians looking for fat to trim from the budget. As it is, SNAP is unable to provide assistance to everyone who needs it, and is among the most efficient and reliable of government assistance programs.
